Output Signal Explanation of RF Admittance Level Sensor

Jan 06 Source: Intelligent Browse: 6

The RF Admittance Level Sensor from Shenzhen Soway Tech Limited (Soway) converts changes in liquid level into measurable electrical signals for accurate monitoring and control. This sensor relies on admittance-based measurement, which detects both the capacitance and resistance of the liquid medium, ensuring precise level detection even in challenging environments.

Signal Generation and Conversion

As the liquid level changes, the electrical admittance of the sensing probe varies. This variation is captured by the sensor’s electronic module, which then processes the raw RF signal and converts it into standard output signals suitable for control and monitoring systems. Unlike LVDTs, the RF Admittance Level Sensor does not produce a differential AC voltage proportional to displacement; instead, it measures changes in admittance and provides conditioned outputs directly.

Signal Conditioning

The sensor includes internal signal conditioning circuitry, which ensures the raw RF admittance changes are converted into accurate and stable outputs. This conditioning makes the sensor outputs compatible with a variety of systems and ensures linear and repeatable readings. Depending on user requirements, the sensor can provide:

Analog Voltage: 0.5–4.5 V DC

Analog Current: 4–20 mA

Digital Communication: RS485 Modbus

This flexible output allows seamless integration with PLCs, data acquisition systems, and process control equipment.

Advantages of Soway’s Output Design

High Accuracy: Measures both capacitance and resistance to compensate for material buildup on electrodes.

Reliable and Stable: Signal conditioning ensures consistent and linear output.

Flexible Integration: Multiple output types support analog and digital monitoring systems.

On-site Calibration: Users can set range, zero-point, and full-scale values directly at the sensor.

Practical Applications

In industrial and chemical processes, the SFC5 Series RF Admittance Level Sensor provides continuous level monitoring, triggers alarms, or actuates pumps based on the conditioned outputs. Its ability to measure water, oils, viscous liquids, and chemical solutions with high reliability makes it ideal for automation and process control applications.
